Who we are

St Catharines Elite Drywall is a drywall contractor based in St. Catharines, serving homeowners, landlords, property managers, builders and businesses across the Niagara Region. We have been doing it for more than twenty years and more than 1,500 completed jobs.

Drywall is the only trade we do. Not drywall alongside kitchens, bathrooms and decks. Board hanging, taping and finishing, repair and patching, popcorn and stipple removal, texture matching, and lath and plaster restoration. That is the whole list, and it has been the whole list for two decades.

Why we stayed a specialist

General renovation companies fit drywall in between other trades, and it shows in the finishing. Hanging board is the fast half of the job and finishing it is the slow half, the half that needs three coats with a full day of drying between each, and the only half anyone can see once the paint goes on.

A crew that tapes every day is simply better at it than a crew that tapes occasionally. That is the entire argument, and it is why we never expanded sideways into the trades either side of ours. We do not frame and we do not paint. We take over once framing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC rough-ins are complete and inspected, and we hand over a surface your painter can prime the same day they arrive.

Why being local matters in this trade

Search for a drywall contractor around here and a good number of the results are companies operating out of the GTA who will drive down for a large enough job. Our crew lives here, and most of our work sits within a half-hour drive of the shop.

That changes practical things. Site visits happen quickly, often the same week and sometimes the next day. There is no travel premium built into the quote. And when something needs a second look after the job, coming back is not a two hour round trip anyone has to be talked into.

It also means we know the housing stock. Century properties around Montebello Park and Yates Street still carry original lath and plaster. Post-war homes through Facer Street and Merritton picked up stipple ceilings during later renovations. Newer subdivisions off Martindale and Vansickle were built with drywall throughout and unfinished basements. Knowing which you are walking into before you quote is most of the job.

The climate does the rest. Humid summers off Lake Ontario, hard freeze-thaw winters and clay soils under parts of the region produce a steady pattern of settlement cracking, nail pops and seasonal movement at ceiling-to-wall junctions. A contractor who has worked fifty houses in the same neighbourhood knows what is behind the wall before opening it.
